African Twilight: Vanishing Rituals and Ceremonies – Now Through January 6, 2019
Artists Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher celebrate African artistry and creativity through stunning photographs and films from their work over the last 15 years. This magnificent exhibition captures the vast cultural diversity of more than 45 African countries, sharing initiation ceremonies, courtship rituals, intimate healing practices and other traditions.
Knights in Armor – Now Through Jan 13, 2019
Travel back in time to the Medieval and Renaissance ages and experience the complexity, beauty, and craftsmanship of knighthood. Learn about the code of chivalry to the arms and armor used in tournaments and jousting. The latest collection includes over 100 pieces of armor with full suits, helmets, corselets, shields, swords, paintings and 2 horses in full guard up.
Kings, Queens, and Castles – Now Through February 18, 2019
Opening in conjunction to Knights in Armor, the Kidseum installation will feature a children’s life-size chess exhibit that brings the game to life while providing understandings of basic chess strategy. Visitors will be greeted with an array of interactive activities such as a sword-in-the-stone photo station, designing and building shields to become a knight, and a ‘Knight’s Quest’ scavenger hunt.
